A truly versatile vegetable

IF first impressions count, then it is hard to imagine why anyone would want to add an aubergine to their shopping basket. Its bulbous, sponge-like form means that it isn't the easiest vegetable on the eye.

But appearances don't count for everything and this purple oddity deserves to be given more than a quick glance in the fruit and veg aisle.

Workers Shop For Surgery To Escape Monday Morning Blues

Leading cosmetic surgery provider, The Harley Medical Group, established 25 years ago, reports that web traffic on Harleymedical.com peaks on Monday mornings, between 10am and midday as desk workers “body shop" online to beat the Monday morning blues.

Liz Dale, Director of The Harley Medical Group adds, “Our website relaunch is the most visited cosmetic surgery website, with over 100,000 unique visitors a month. Recent web traffic reports identified that Monday morning is now our virtual rush hour. We can't be absolutely sure whether the Monday morning browsers follow through and book in for consultations, or whether it's simply a form of escapism from the Monday morning blues, with desk workers researching a number of life enhancing websites and topics, surfing cosmetic surgery before venturing on to travel, property and recruitment sites."

Psychologist and self-help author, Dr Pam Spurr, commented, "There are many key psychological and emotional reasons why people are more likely to net-surf on Monday mornings for information on cosmetic procedures.

Fraxel for Scars

There are four main kinds of scars. Atrophic scars are indentations or depressions that form in the skin, like acne scars. They can vary in size, shape and depth. Hypertrophic scars are thick, red, raised scars that form within the boundaries of a break in the skin. Keloid scars are similar to hypertrophic scars. They are red or dark-colored, thick and raised and may also be itchy. But unlike hypertrophic scars, keloid scars are more aggressive in growth. The scars continue to grow in size and may extend well beyond the border of the skin injury. Contracture scars form after a loss of a large area of skin (like from a burn). As the scar forms, it pulls on the edges of the wound, causing the overlying area to tighten. A contracture scar that forms over a joint can interfere with the mobility of the affected limb.
